And it’s a wrap on #Movember

December 3, 2020 | People at Mirus Australia

It’s now December which means that’s a wrap on Movember for 2020! Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide.

Strength in numbers:

  • Last year donations raised by the Mirus team: $1160
  • This year’s goal: $1500
  • This year we raised: $1870

The Mirus MoBros and MoSistas worked hard last month to promote and support the mental health and well-being of men. This year the Mirus MoBros and MoSistas ambitiously set out to try and hit $1500 donations for this great cause. In fact, the money raised this year managed to exceed our target by $370! Did you know that men are dying on average 6 years earlier than women and for largely preventable reasons. Unchecked, prostate cancer rates will double over the next 15 years. Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among men aged 15-39 years of age. And across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 75% of all suicides.

In addition to this amazing effort by our Mirus team this month, we stay aware all year-round. It’s a great cause with an important meaning behind it. Movember is making changes by –

  • Giving men the facts
  • Changing behaviour for the better
  • Creating services that work for men
  • Uniting the brightest minds
  • Listening to the community and advocate for men.

The Mirus MoBros and MoSistas look forward to next year to celebrate and participate in another great Movember (showing off even more impressive moustaches than this year of course)!

Until then please take great care.
