Welcome to the November 2023 edition of Mirus Industry Analysis (MIA).
Revenue
In October, the sector achieved modest gains in ADS adding $0.23 from the previous period. MMM5 Facility types jumped nearly 1.5% due to stronger admissions across the regions last month.
Total Claiming activity was up again with the continued occupancy gains experienced across the sector.
Occupancy
Occupancy levels increased slightly in October reaching 88.79%.
In addition, while short-term stay admissions experienced a bump up in October, new permanent admission intakes were down by approximately 23% from the previous month and that also played out with a reduction in respite bed days.
Workforce management
Total direct care minutes per resident per day increased by an impressive 4.24% from September to October, reaching 209 minutes. However, it’s important to note that each facility will have its own care minute targets determined by the unique profile of residents within that service.
